Retiring Senator Matthias Cormann has thanked his colleagues after they presented him with a golden abacus as a farewell present.
”I am genuinely touched that my colleagues bestowed this beautiful and practical gift on me,” said the Minister for Finance. ”As most of you know numbers are not my strong point so this will be a great addition to my life.”
”The Treasurer also said he would spend a bit of time with me and show me how to use it, so that’s a definite plus, or is it a minus, sorry these things confuse me.”
When asked if he was confident that he had the numbers to pursue his next job as head of the OECD, Senator Cormann said: ”One is never confident when it comes to numbers. However, I do feel I am the best person for the job, I do speak four languages you know.”
”Sadly the language of numbers is not one of them but I can get by.”
“You know sometimes stuffing up the numbers can be beneficial, it’s Prime Minister ScoMo not Prime Minister Dutton you know.”
