The International Cricket Community has rallied around Channel Nine commentator Shane Warne after his constant references to drinks and drinking in the wake of Australia’s World Cup victory over New Zealand on Sunday sparked concerns the former Spin King was suffering from chronic dehydration.

Former wife Simone Callaghan, ex-fiancée Elizabeth Hurley and most of Tinder have long been worried privately, but this is the first time their concerns for the welfare of the prolific batsman pants man have been made public.

A lack of public awareness campaigns in the 1980s is one theory being proffered for the cause of the national treasure’s difficulty. Philip Adams, the creator of the successful ‘Slip, slop, slap’ sun smart campaign of the early 1990s has told The (un)Australian he regrets not having been commissioned to come up with a “lift, tilt, sip” to help Australians master the use of cups, glasses and steins.
