Chart topping and let’s face it just dreamy band, One Direction, has today announced that they plan a worldwide reunion tour in 2020 after yesterday’s news that member Zayn had left the band. Zayn said he was leaving so that he could be a normal 22-year-old who has a heap of money and fame.
The group, which was formed by music mogul Simon Cowell, is currently on a world tour and according to their website will be on tour for the next five years or until ticket sales start falling, whichever comes first.
News of Zayn leaving the band has shocked many, however those in the music business see it as a great career move. Head of E records, which used to be Virgin Atlantic before it merged with Columbia but was bought out by Subway and re-branded as E records, Steve “Ponytail” Harris said of Zayn leaving: “This is a genius career move, almost as good as Elvis’ decision to die in order to revive his record sales.
“I mean the kid can have a few years off, maybe have a fling with Kate Moss, get addicted to something, appear on Oprah then go back to the band just as their popularity is waning and boom big reunion tour, genius.”
One Direction’s current world tour will be coming shortly to a town near you, but only if your town has a big enough stadium.
