Eastern States Premiers Furious As West Australian Premier Keeps Arriving Two Hours Late For COAG Meetings

Colin Barnett

The premiers of Victoria and NSW have asked Colin Barnett to please adjust his watch to AET after WA premier once again disrupted Council of Australian Government talks by arriving two hours after the scheduled start.

“I get confused. Am I supposed to set the time two hours forward or two hours back?”, admitted a sheepish Barnett yesterday. “I’m really not enjoying these talks very much because by the time I arrive all the other premiers have taken the good chairs and I have to sit in the dodgy one with the backrest that keeps falling down.”

“He’s always late and spends most of the meeting whining about how hard it is to find a decent Chicken Treat shop in Canberra”, said frustrated NSW premier Mike Baird. “Ever since the arse fell out of the iron ore industry you’ve got to question why he still even gets an invite. Other than quokkas and medium pace swing bowlers his state isn’t bringing much else to the table.”

South Australian premier Jay Weatherill has been keeping Barnett up with proceedings by letting him copy his notes.

“I miss the first half hour most days but that usually consists of the NSW and Victorian premiers fighting over whose capital city has the best bar scene and making sultry jokes about the map of Tasmania.”
