Liberal Senator and twitter superstar Cory Bernardi has this week caused controversy after appearing to endorse a husband’s right to put his wife in a headlock in order to restrain them, whilst hearing evidence at a Parliamentary inquiry into domestic violence.

Bernardi’s views have caused outrage (mostly on twitter), with a number of prominent tweeters leaping at the opportunity to condemn the Senator and also gain followers.

Senator Bernardi has issued a statement clarifying his comments however it is over 140 characters, so we’re not going to read, re-tweet or favourite it.

We did reach out to twitter opinionist @OZPOL_LOL, however they only favourited our tweet, no reply.
