Assistant Housing Minister Luke Howarth has put out the call to the Nation’s history teachers to put a positive spin on events such as World War 2, Vietnam and the Stolen Generation.
“It’s easy to fall into a trap when talking about history and only focus on the negatives, especially with World War 2. What with all the genocides and bombings and what not,” said the Assistant Minister. “But you know there were a lot of positives to come out of the war, I mean the Nazi’s did have spectacular uniforms.”
“Also did you know that Hitler was a big environmentalist, my dear colleague Eric Abetz was telling me all about him, fascinating fellow. Hitler not Eric.”
When asked why he felt the need all of a sudden to put a positive spin on all things the ASSistant Minister replied: “Why not be positive, I mean we won the unwinnable election, passed the unpassable tax cuts and well look at the Opposition. We got three very positive years ahead of us.”
“Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to tell random people on the streets to smile more.”
