Former Opposition leader and renown feminist Mark Latham has been questioned by NSW police over Monday night’s assault of convicted killer Michael Ibrahim.
Michael Ibrahim was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital after sustaining a firearm wound to his shoulder while standing outside Dorchester House in Sydney’s CBD. Staff at St Vincent’s have confirmed that the incident are unlikely to impact upon Mr Ibrahim’s life expectancy, although would not be drawn on how it might impact upon the life expectancy of the assailant.
NSW police senior deputy chief inspector Collin Mander confirmed that there had been a recent spate of disputes between Ibrahim and Latham and that Latham had accordingly been taken in for questioning.
Speaking to The (un)Australian, crime historian Wendy Foyer expressed surprise that Ibrahim would have antagonised Latham.
“The Ibrahim’s tend to be pretty pragmatic in how they go about what they do,” Foyer said. “They don’t tend to start fights if they’re not confident they can win them. And nobody ever wins in a fight with Mark Latham.”
