Former lead singer of Australian band Noiseworks, Jon Stevens, has reportedly auditioned to be considered as American singer and domestic violence advocate Chris Brown’s opening act on his next Australian tour.
Stevens took the unusual step of auditioning to be Brown’s opening act by assaulting his soon to be estranged girlfriend Jodhi Meares at their eastern suburbs home. Music industry executives were surprised by the move, as usually musicians send in demo tapes of their work; Stevens’ move is seen as bold new approach.
A spokesperson for singer Chris Brown told The (un)Australian: “We’d never heard of this fellow or his band until we saw what he did to his partner. Chris is impressed though. We’re just waiting now to see if he shows remorse, the less he does the better the chances are for him to tour with us.”
Amazingly, Chris Brown is still able to tour Australia despite his record of domestic violence and other convictions.
