Attorney-General and book shelf aficionado George Brandis opened up his email account today and was greeted with 48,598 unread emails. The sudden influx of emails combined with the government’s rise in the opinion polls has Brandis bursting with pride over his new found popularity.
Friend, confidante and fellow government minister Christopher Pyne spoke on behalf of Senator Brandis, saying: “George is a tremendous chap and it’s about time members of the public realised this and sent him a lovely little email. Hopefully they also send a letter to Bronwyn Bishop as well and maybe include a nice pressed hanky. I tell you they really are lucky to have such a swell Government as ours running the country.”
The sudden influx of emails to Brandis is a form of protest, whereby people are asked to cc Brandis into every email they send in relation to the government’s new laws requiring metadata to be kept and monitored.
Senator Brandis will reply to all emails sent in due time, however he is busy this week, according to Pyne, as his fellow Senators are throwing him a lovely little censure party. Depending on how that goes, he may have some more spare time later in the week
