NRL player-for-now Jarryd Hayne has been warned by Gold Coast Police to stop hanging out with noted criminal ‘The Hamburglar’ after the pair were spotted sharing a thick shake in a McDonald’s car park.
Detective Inspector Peter Pepper of the Gold Coast police told The (un)Australian: “Jarryd needs to watch who he hangs out with, ‘The Hamburglar’ is a noted criminal, he dresses like a criminal and he dedicates his life to chasing his next fix of hamburgers, is this the road that Jarryd wants to go down?”
Reached for comment, Mr Hayne said of his actions: “It’s a big adjustment going from the NFL, where most of your teammates and opposition are criminals to the NRL where it’s just one or two criminals per team.
“My old mate Hamburglar was just helping me settle in, but I will now cut off all ties with him and instead hang out with more savoury characters. Next weekend I will be catching up for tea with Rugby League journalist ‘Buzz’ Rothfield and he said he’d bring along his mate Eddie, so that’ll be nice.”
When reached for comment ‘The Hamburglar’ simply Grimaced.
