The Australian Cricket selectors have unanimously agreed that Mitch Marsh is their pick for the Man of the Series award. Despite not being the highest run scorer, leading wicket taker or playing in all four tests.
Speaking to The (un)Australian an Australian cricket selector who wished to remain nameless explained their reasoning, saying: “Mitch and his brother Shaun have gone above and beyond the call of duty.”
“I mean did you see that first test? Mitch bowled like 6 overs and backed it up with a handy 30 odd runs, combine that with going home injured and it was Watson esque.”
When asked why Australian cricket persisted with the underperforming Marsh brothers the selector replied: “It’s all about potential, like Watson before him Mitch has the potential to be a superstar. He also has the potential to release some incriminating photos that he and his brother have of a certain group of selectors.”
With Mitch Marsh out injured for the next 9 months the Australian selector spoke of future plans, saying: “Well with Mitch unavailable I guess the only logical thing to do is to forfeit future series until Mitch is better. Unless of course his Dad Swampy is available?”
