Cardinal George Pell has come out [sic] in defence of Australian Rugby Union star Israel Folau, agreeing with his views on the damnation of gay people.
Last week Folau responded to a comment on an Instagram post, where one of his followers asked what God’s plan for Gay people was, stating “HELL, unless they repent”.
Pell has throw the weight of his robes behind the besieged footballer, agreeing that this indeed is God’s will.
“You see… the Bible is quite clear about this”, stated Pell as he exited court where he has been standing trial for child sex offences, “We Christians must stand by these laws”.
He went on to say that he thought it was fantastic that such a prominent football player was willing to put his faith first in the public eye.
“It’s often horrid that these footballers say they’re Christian but do ‘Un-Christian’ things, like work on the Sabbath, get tattoos, and wear torn jerseys. However, I’m sure that this Folau bloke is much better than that”.
Israel Folau missed this weekend’s match for the Waratahs and admitted that he was disappointed not to have had the opportunity to hug and shower with men over the weekend.
