Tony Abbott has taken to Twitter to demand that the NRL replace US rapper Macklemore as the entertainment choice for this Sunday’s Grand Final with a more appropriate act like the Village People.
“Sport should not be political. This Macklemore fellow, I assume they are a fellow, with his songs about men with men and women with women is not appropriate at a rugby game,” said Mr Abbott. “I mean a bunch of men mucking in and packing in tight in the scrum should have an appropriate song being sung.
“Like Macho Man or YMCA. If they do that one, the whole crowd can do the actions.”
Asked whether he would be attending the game, Mr Abbott replied: “I will, I have tickets for myself, Margie and the two girls. Actually I do have a spare ticket if anyone wants it, all they have to do is say ‘No’ and the ticket is theirs.
“That goes for you as well Frances, say no and you can have your ticket back.”
