Following a dominant day one performance from the English batsmen the Australian selectors have announced that they will rush in former opening batsman and Father of Mitch and Sean, Geoff ‘Swampy’ Marsh into the team for the Boxing day test.
“We thought we had the balance of the team right with two Marshes, but clearly it wasn’t enough so we need to bring in Swampy,” said Australian selector Trevor Hohns. “I mean let’s be honest we tried with the kids. They did alright but then Justin Langer came along and bullied all the non-West Australian players out of the team.”
When pressed on what they would do should the three prong Marsh attack not work Hohns replied: “We do have contingency plans, Rod Marsh is still around and kicking and Graham Marsh though he was a golfer is quite a handy little off-spinner so don’t worry we have all our bases covered.”
England Captain Joe Root when asked for comment on Geoff Marsh’s impending recall commented: “That decision makes as much sense as our teams approcah to sensible drinking.”
