This year’s TV Week Logie Awards, or TV’s “night of nights” as it’s affectionately known as, will not be held in their usual location of Crown Casino but instead will be telecast live from Melbourne’s Long Bay Prison.
A spokesperson for TV Week told The (un)Australian: “Look we really wanted Robert Hughes to host but his management insisted we hold the event at Long Bay, so we thought why not? After all not everyone is comfortable in a casino.”
Asked if we could expect any other changes to the Logies, the spokesperson said: “This year will definitely be a themed year, think Prisoner. We will be live from Long Bay with Robert Hughes as host and we will be inducting Rolf Harris into the Hall of Fame.
“We are really focused on the viewers, usually watching the Logies feels like being in prison, this year the people responsible for making Australian TV will be put in prison, everyone wins!”
The TV Week logies will be held later in the year with organisers hoping to secure overseas guest Bill Cosby, should he be out on bail at the time.
