The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced today that they will be selling off the naming rights to the virus formerly known as ‘Carona.’ The move comes after initial sponsor, the beer company Carona chose not to renew their contract.
“I think we can all agree it’s time for us to give this virus a new name,” said a Spokesperson for the WHO. “We’ve heard all the jokes about Carona and I think it’s time for some new material.”
“After all there’s only so many Carona memes that one can see before tiring of the joke.”
When asked why they were seeking to sell off the naming rights to a deadly virus, the Spokesperson said: “We need the cash to cure it. What you think Government’s around the World are going to kick in some moolah to solve this thing?”
“Besides if this works and we do cure diseases through sponsorship think of the possibilities.”
“McDonalds presents Diabetes! New Sprite flavoured Lemon Lyme disease! It’s a marketers dream.”
