NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has called on all NSW residents to say a prayer for their local casino and to also spare a dollar or a pay check to put through the Star’s pokie machines when they reopen.
“We expected venues to have to close due to covid but when it’s one that is as so beloved by Treasury as the casino, I won’t lie it hurts,” said Premier Berejiklian. “But, never fear NSW I have taken as many cleaners as I can from schools and public transport to ensure that the casino is open as soon as possible.”
“I want to ensure the public and the Star Casino’s operators that we are all in this together.”
When asked whether further restrictions could be put in place at the casino or other gambling venues, the Premier said: “That’s why I ask the state to pray.”
“We can’t afford another outbreak of covid at a venue as important as the Star. Could you imagine if say we got one at Rooty Hill RSL or God forbid Panthers.”
“The State would go broke if covid ripped through all the gambling pensioners.”
