The Federal Member for Tangey, Dr Dennis Jensen, has been honoured with yet another prestigious award to add to the extensive range of accolades which he has received over the course of his ten year parliamentary career.
Earlier today, Dr Jensen became only the third person to receive the Simon Crean Medal for Services to Leadership Crises. He joined former Victorian Maverick Geoff Shaw, who in 2013 forced the resignation of a premier, and Willem Westra van Holth, who earlier this month successfully challenged Northern Territory Chief Minister Adam Giles for the leadership of the NT Country Party only to later withdraw his candidacy for the position, as the only other recipients.
Dr Jensen’s other notable achievements include being awarded the Arthur Tunstill Award for Racial Tolerance in 2008 after instructing victims of the stolen generation to “Get over it”, and the Fred Nile Award for Scientific Literacy after proposing stringing a giant shadecloth between orbiting satellites to combat global warming in 2010.
Dr Jensen’s close friend Wilson Tuckey collected the award on his behalf.
