Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has called on his colleagues to consider moving Australia’s Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to ‘beautiful’ Nauru.
“I know my good friend President Trump has talked of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and there is a lot of merit in that idea,’ said Mr Abbott. “However I think we should definitely not rule out Nauru, it really is a beautiful island.”
When asked how it would work having an embassy in not just another country but another hemisphere Mr Abbott replied: “I think the Australian people are a bit fed up with the media’s relentless negative campaigning. Why not just run with an idea instead of looking for all the negative outcomes.”
“Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to write an opinion piece on how everything Malcolm Turnbull did as Prime Minister was wrong and impractical.”
