This year’s sculptures by the sea event has been cancelled and replaced by a pop-up casino to be run by Clubs NSW that will run the length of Bondi Beach.
The announcement was made by New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrotet, who said: “The people of New South Wales deserve big events, and though in the past sculptures have been great, they just don’t cut it in today’s modern world. That’s why we will replace it with the world’s biggest pop-up casino complete with a bonus greyhound track.
“The people have spoken and I have listened. It is clear that this state wants to gamble and by gosh I will not stand in the way of progress.”
The decision to replace the popular sculptures with a casino was met with anger on social media, however, Alan Jones approved of the decision and that was all it took to persuade the premier.
All funds raised at the casino will go to Clubs NSW in their effort to ”improve” communities.
