Interim Opposition leader, Peter Dutton, has told colleagues that he assumed that Channel 7 were asking for the price of easter eggs, not everyday eggs, at last night’s leader’s debate.
Mr Dutton guessed that eggs were $4, less than half of what they actually retail for.
”Poor Pete, he hasn’t had the greatest campaign, in hindsight it probably wasn’t the smartest idea to campaign with little to no policies and a bunch of vicious slurs,” said a Coalition Insider. ”Sure, it’s been fun to watch him chide and snipe at the ABC and Albo, but that hasn’t really helped us in the polls.”
”Oh well, after the election we’ll let Angus and Sussan slug it out, they won’t win us Government but it will be a very fun train crash to watch.”
When asked whether they believed that Peter Dutton had any chance of winning the election, the Coalition Spokesperson said: ”There’s always a chance, sure I wouldn’t bet my superannuation on it, but there is a chance.”
”Never know, everyone may forget to vote except for our few supporters.”
”Or maybe Rupert has one final smear campaign that he can run in his papers.”
”You can only hope.”
