NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has ordered the State’s residents to set aside a week’s salary and go down to their local pokies den and put it through the machines.
”Our RSL’s and clubs have been hit hard by the covid crisis,” said the Premier. ”So I call on all residents to dig deep and give something back to the clubs.”
”And who knows you might even win some money back. However, on the slight chance that you do we are making it mandatory that you donate it back to the club.”
When asked why the Premier was so supportive of the pokies rather than churches or gyms, the Premier said: ”Well for some of us the pokies are a religion.”
”Let’s face it without that sweet, sweet pokies revenue this State is stuffed. I have to admit the return of the pokies revenue is the only thing that gets my Government out of bed in the morning.”
”We used to have stamp duty as well, but that’s incredibly hard to get these days.”
