WA backbencher and aspiring science minister Dennis Jensen is dismayed to learn that he is no longer allowed to eat with the cool kids at the cafeteria in Parliament House.
Jensen, who this week went on the ABC’s 7:30 Report to announce he no longer supported Prime Minister Tony Abbott, thought Tony and the other kids wouldn’t be upset.
“Look Tony’s usually pretty cool and I figured he’d be OK with me, using a ‘back bencher’s pick’ to stir up the pot a bit. Boy was I wrong. I walked into the lunch room and went to sit down on Tony’s table but Joe Hockey slid his lunch tray over indicating there was no room, then Bronwyn Bishop shouted at me, and man she was vicious! Anyone would think I was a Labor MP in question time.”
However not all MPs are upset over Jensen’s cafeteria treatment, Minister for Education Christopher Pyne is positively elated, telling The (un)Australian: “This week has been fantastic, I’ve been able to eat lunch with the others for a change. Usually I eat alone or with Mummy Bronny, but this week I got to sit with Tony on Monday, Malcolm on Tuesday and Julie Bishop has offered to take me shopping on Wednesday and buy me some big boy pants.”
When asked for a comment on Jensen’s treatment, Abbott nodded his head back and forth for two hours. We assume he is still pondering the question.
