Tasmanian Senator Eric Abetz has today announced plans to hold an anti-section 18c of the racial discrimination act rally and has enquired of Telstra whether or not they have any telephone booths available for hire.
Speaking to The (un)Australian Senator Abetz talked up the rally, saying: “People are sick of section 18c and it’s curtailing our free speech. Why the other day I saw a fellow from Africa and I wanted to have a chat but due to section 18c I was unable to greet him.”
“I mean rappers can use the N word, why can’t I?”
When pressed on how many people he expected to turn up to the rally Senator Abetz replied: “It will be big, we are expecting 10’s of people to show up. Andrew Bolt will be there, I’ll be there and Chris Kenny will also be there. When it comes to the fight for free speech, Chris Kenny is like a dog with a bone.”
Telstra was unavailable for comment as at press time The (un)Australian was still waiting to be put through to an operator. However the automated response did say: “Your call is important to us and will be put through to the next available operator.”
