Aspiring Opposition leader and former boxer Tony Abbott has announced that he will be training in the same camp as newly crowned boxing champion Jeffrey Horn. Mr Abbott will be training with Horn in preparation for his highly anticipated next fight against his long-time nemesis Malcolm Turnbull.
Taking a break from sparing to discuss his upcoming foray into boxing, Mr Abbott had this to say about the fight: “A lot of people have written me off as irrelevant and yesterday’s man, but they also said Jeff Horn didn’t have a chance and look what happened there.”
When asked what tactics he will be employing in his fight a cagey Abbott replied: “Look I won’t be giving too much away but let’s just say you won’t see any windmill punches being thrown by yours truly.”
Whilst no date has been set for the Abbott v Turnbull showdown, Liberal party officials are busy scouting out venues in and around Canberra to hold the fight. The choice of venue is problematic as the Abbott camp is insisting on only fighting in a ring where all sides are to the right.
