The Opposition’s shadow minister for home affairs, Barnaby Joyce, is tipped this week to end his long-running marriage to the Nationals and slink off into the arms of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation.
”I’m not going to confirm or deny anything, just that occasionally people fall out of love and seek something better,” said the member for New England. ”If and it’s still an if, I join One Nation it’ll give me the chance to work on some new positions.”
”I’ve always wanted to do it on the hard-right side of the bed.”
When asked why the public should support someone as disloyal as himself, Mr Joyce said: ”I can change, believe me I can change.”
”It’s just, you know the stresses of work, the bloody bonk ban.”
”How am I meant to get anything done when I’m not allowed to have a crack at an intern or two?”
”How will interns learn if they’re not given the chance to work under me.”
