The Opposition’s shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor (yep, really) has demanded that the Government invest big in tonight’s 100 million dollar Powerball lottery, as a way to help pay off National debt.
”100 million dollars is a lot of money and it would do wonders to the budget,” said the Member for Hume. ”So, come on Albo, show us the money and buy some Powerball tickets.”
”I know they have news agencies in Marrickville, it’s not all craft breweries and trendy barber shops.”
When asked if he understood that buying lotto tickets was not a guaranteed win but came with risk, the Shadow Treasurer said: ”Well of course there is a risk associated with Powerball, but, you’ve gotta be in it to win it.”
”Besides, what else is the Government gonna do with all that money they set aside for housing.”
”The Greens have done them a favour.”
”Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to skim the Parliament house fountains for coins. Coffee isn’t cheap around here you know.”
