Peter Dutton’s shadow minister for home and foreign affairs, Barnaby Joyce, has pledged his allegiance to his leader by swearing that from now on he will only wear Australian flag patterned silk boxers.

”I am a man that usually doesn’t discriminate when it comes to underwear,” said the member for New England. ”As long as it’s silk, I promise that I will always be at half mast.”

”Any ladies out there who want to do their patriotic duty, I am always free and some might say girt.”

When asked why in the middle of a cost of living crisis would the Opposition be focusing on flags, the shadow minister for home and foreign affairs said: ”Flood the zone, flags, nuclear, Christmas, anti-semitism, if it gets people talking we’ll put it out there.”

”Speaking of putting it out there, ladies, if you’re wondering, my boxers are sized XXXL, and that’s not due to my waist, if you know what I mean.”
