Opposition leader (for now) Bill Shorten has sent former Prime Minister Tony Abbott a thank you bouquet of onions after the former Prime Minister took off some of the heat on Shorten by attacking the current Prime Minister over the National Energy Guarantee.
“When someone does you a good turn you should always show thanks,” said Opposition Leader Bill Shorten. “This week the press was really going after me when who should step in but Mr Abbott with his attacks on Malcolm. Bravo Sir, bravo.”
“If anyone deserves a basket of this Nation’s finest brown onions then it is definitely Sir Tony Abbott.”
A gracious Tony Abbott said of the gift: “It was much appreciated though the only gift I crave in attacking Malcolm is the gift of his job. Maybe I should give Bill a call and pick his brain on the best knifing techniques. After all he is the king of knives, maybe I could knight when I become Prime Minister again.”
