Former Nationals Leader and aspiring minister for home affairs Barnaby Joyce has told the Prime Minister that the Nationals are keen to swing and would like to turn the Coalition into an open marriage.
”Look, the Nat’s and the Libs have been together for yonks so we think it’s time that we started to see other people,” said the member for New England. ”Like all marriages things get a bit stale and the eye starts to wonder, so why not explore that and see where it goes.”
”No harm in sowing a few wild oats here and there.”
When asked why he was speaking on behalf of the Nationals given that he was not currently leader, Mr Joyce said: ”Pure semantics, it’s not like old Mikey McCormack wants to swing.”
”Unless of course it’s to an Elvis record.”
”Now, if you’ll excuse me I need to scout the halls of parliament house for some talent that I can hang out with on the back bench.”
